I will be the first person to tell you that my house is where plants come to die. I definitely do not have a green thumb. However the one thing I have managed to keep alive for over a year(!) is succulents. They need barely any water or tending to and just need lots of light to thrive.

I decided to try and make a little succulent garden to go on our kitchen table and I have to say I am pretty happy with the results. Here’s what you need to make your own DIY tabletop garden:

-a large flat bottom pot (mine is from Anthropologie)

-soil, gloves and a small shovel

-a plastic lining

-different size and height succulents

-small rocks to cover the soil (optional)

1. Fill your pot at least half way with soil and push out to the sides to make room for the plants

2. Arrange the plants so that you have varying heights and shapes

3. When you are happy with the arrangement you can cover the soil with small decorative rocks

4. Enjoy your new mini garden!
